Got Fiddlers?

Fiddlers?   The preferred food of Sheepshead!  Yup, those are two big Copper Fiddlers crawling across my keyboard.   Everything I do now is geared toward the upcoming El Cheapo Sheepshead Tournament.  It will be held on February 21, 2015 It is getting here quicker than you realize!  

This year, the 15th Annual El Cheapo will be even bigger and better than ever, and promises to continue to be the BEST Family, Fun event and Tournament you will ever go to!   Even if you don’t fish the tournament there is a lot to see at the Tournament Site located at the Mayport Boat Ramp, also known ( If you are going to look it up. ) as the Michael B. Scanlan Mayport Boat Ramp, located at the end of A1A just past the River Ferry.  There is a map at the bottom of this page.

Why has this Tournament become the big hit that it is?   Well first I have to give credit to Frank Joura our Tournament director.  He works on it all year and really gets going hard in late November until the tournament at the end of February!   The next reason is simple, it is CHEAP, only $80 dollars for early entry, then there is the fact that it is fished mostly in the river and backwaters around Jacksonville.  No rough water, no long runs to the fishing spot offshore, Cudas or Sharks biting your winning fish in half, just fun family fishing!

This picture has been with us for a couple of years, but it personifies the El Cheapo perfectly!
